I am reaching out to this community in hopes of dissecting a recurring Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue that has been plaguing my Windows 10 system for the past few weeks. My objective is to approach this problem with an analytical mindset, breaking down each potential cause and testing them systematically.
System Specifications:
- Processor: Intel Core i7-9700K
- RAM: 16GB DDR4
- Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD (500GB)
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070
- OS Version: Windows 10 Pro, Version 20H2
Symptoms & Error Codes:
The BSODs occur seemingly at random, with no clear trigger from user activities. The error codes vary but include PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
, and MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken So Far:
Memory Test: I have run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool which returned no errors. Additionally, I used MemTest86 on boot, letting it complete several passes without detecting any issues.
Driver Updates: All drivers have been updated to their latest versions using both the device manager and visiting individual hardware manufacturer's websites.
Windows Updates: The system is up-to-date with all the latest patches and cumulative updates from Microsoft.
Hardware Checks: I've reseated all components including RAM sticks and GPU, checked for overheating (all temperatures are within normal ranges), and ensured that the power supply is adequate.
Software Conflicts: There are no recent software installations that correlate with the start of these BSODs; however, I have performed clean boots to minimize startup programs and services.
System File Checker: Running sfc /scannow
in the command prompt did not reveal any integrity violations.
Disk Check: Executing chkdsk /f /r
on my SSD did not find any bad sectors or file system errors.
Despite these efforts, the BSOD episodes persist without a clear pattern or identifiable trigger. Before considering a clean install of Windows or hardware replacements, I am looking for insights into additional diagnostic steps that could be taken or if there are known issues with similar configurations as mine.
Has anyone experienced similar issues or can suggest further analysis techniques? Could there be an underlying compatibility issue between components? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I continue to seek a resolution through methodical examination and troubleshooting.
