So, apparently Microsoft decided that “Next Gen” means “Next Mystery” because, surprise surprise: DirectX 12 Ultimate is officially part of Windows 11-unless you’re some poor soul still running on ancient hardware, in which case, hope you enjoy retro gaming.
Has anyone successfully figured out if there’s actually a way to manually reinstall or repair DirectX in Windows 11, or is the official advice just “go update your drivers and pray”?
And what’s the deal with all these games still asking you to install some old DirectX runtime every time you launch them, right after Windows 11 promised it had you covered? At this point, I’m pretty sure my PC has more copies of d3dx9_43.dll than it does actual games.
Does anyone have some secret stash of troubleshooting steps that work when a brand-new game claims you “don’t meet DirectX requirements” even though DXDiag is over here showing DirectX 12, bright and shiny? Or am I doomed to a life of redownloading VC redistributables and running sfc /scannow like it’s a form of yoga?
