Yet another day where I managed to trip over my own feet in Windows 7, and somehow landed on the command prompt (cmd). I know-it’s not 2009, but as long as this PC still boots, I’m not risking an “upgrade.”
Anyway, does anyone else feel like the cmd in Windows 7 is less a command prompt and more of an “are you sure you want to do that?” prompt? Every time I try basic stuff, like copying files or checking ipconfig, it’s like I’m wrestling with a stubborn teenager:
- It assumes I’m not the admin (spoiler: I am, and I have the ego to prove it).
- Half the commands I find in tutorials from 2012 don’t seem to work unless you launch cmd as that shadowy “Administrator.”
- The font is somehow both pixelated and nostalgic, like Minecraft’s minimalist cousin.
So, what is the most absurd thing you’ve done (or failed to do) with command prompt in Windows 7? Any secret magic spells (commands) to make it behave better, or should I just give up and open Notepad to draft my resignation letter to Bill Gates?
