I’ve been using Windows for decades, and I’m starting to get really skeptical about all this hype surrounding LTSC. Microsoft touts it as the “stable” version with long-term support and minimal changes, but isn’t that just a way to keep businesses locked into an outdated system? It feels like they’re deliberately limiting innovation for a subset of users. If you spend years on a platform that deliberately skips most feature updates, are you really getting the fresh, secure advances they claim to offer? And what’s the real cost here—both in performance and compatibility with newer software and hardware?
I’m wondering if anyone else feels like LTSC is being oversold. Is it genuinely a benefit for certain use cases, or is Microsoft just trying to create artificial demand for a version that avoids the messy, evolving landscape of Windows updates? In particular, how do you balance the need for stability with the risk of missing out on important improvements or security enhancements that come with regular updates?
Looking forward to hearing if others have had similar experiences or if there’s something I’m missing about why LTSC might be worth sticking with, despite my reservations.
